Lost
If your pet is picked up it will be taken to the Jacksonville Beach Animal Control Building and housed in a special pet area. Upon arrival your pet will be given food, water and weather appropriate comforts.
Pets that arrive visibly sick or injured may be taken to a local veterinary clinic for treatment. The owner is responsible for all costs associated with treatment and boarding of pets taken to an injured pet center.
If your pet was wearing a current license or microchip ID system, we will make every effort possible to notify you and reunite you with your lost pet. If an unlicensed pet is picked up it will be taken to the Jacksonville Beach Animal Control Building and housed in a special pet area for up to seven days. Upon arrival pets will be given food, water and weather appropriate comforts. Unlicensed pets are held for a period up to seven (7) days and are then transferred to the Jacksonville Animal Care and Protective Services. Any licensed dog or cat committing a nuisance or found running at large shall be picked up by the city or the designated authorized agent of the city and placed in a shelter for a period not to exceed seven (7) days. After seven days licensed animals may be transferred to the Jacksonville Animal Care and Protective Services.
If your pet was not wearing a tag, it is very important that you personally visit the animal shelters in the surrounding area. You may need to make several visits, as every day lost pets are picked up or turned in by concerned citizens.
You can report a lost pet to the Jacksonville Beach Animal Control by using the Missing Pet Registration form. Please print this form and turn it into the ACO with an attached photo. Leave the form in the “Lost” mailbox of the Animal Control Office 1460 Shetter Avenue.

Found
If you have found a pet and it is safe to do so, check the animal for tags on or inside the collar. You can contact the owner directly or contact the veterinary clinic listed on the tags. You should also check with other family members and your neighbors to try to identify the lost pet.
If you are unable to locate the animal’s owner, and cannot provide temporary care you can file a Found Pet Report in the city the pet was located in. It is important to contact the city the animal was found in as many pet owners will look for a lost pet within the city they live.
To file a Found Pet Report in the city of Jacksonville Beach please contact Animal Control Services or the Jacksonville Beach Police Department.
