The Duval County Emergency Preparedness Division maintains a registry of clients who have been identified as persons with Special Medical Needs. These individuals require assistance during evacuations and sheltering.
If you are disabled or have special medical needs (medically dependent on electricity) and have no one to help you, you may pre-register with the City of Jacksonville Emergency Operations Center online by going to the City of Jacksonville Special Needs Information Center. Also find information for the following topics of interests.
You may pre-register for Special Medical Needs Assistance and Evacuation Transportation Assistance.
The special needs program will include evaluating medical needs, coordinating access to special needs shelters, and transportation. As a last resort, a person in need may utilize the JTA bus system bus stops for evacuation.
Beaches Energy Services identifies, helps protect and does everything possible to quickly restore the electric service of customers with special needs.
With a doctor’s verification, customers with serious health problems that require the use of specialized electric equipment can be placed on the Medical Support List.
