Overview

The Carver Center is a part of the City of Jacksonville Beach Parks and Recreation Department. We provide numerous programs and activities in areas of recreation, the arts, and education, free of charge to low to moderate income families and children in the community.

Tutoring: The Carver Center highly values the importance of academics and education in the lives of our youth. The tutoring program is available every Monday thru Friday from 3:00 to 6:00pm.General homework assistance as well as more detailed one-on-one sessions are offered at no expense to children of all ages.

Special Events: From reward trips to Disney World to dance-off parties and movie night, the Carver Center hosts and participates in an array of special events throughout the year.

Carver Arts: Dance, Drama and Art . . . With the instruction of The Cathedral Arts Company, the Carver Center offers the children exposure to various cultures and ideas through many forms of artistic expression. Projects and rehearsals turn into performances and exhibitions as these kids take what they have learned to stages and venues all over town.

Girl Scouts: Under the excellent direction of our troop leader, Girl Scouts is held once a week . The girls are busy, not only having a great time together, but also getting involved with various community service projects and day trips.

 

Young Men of Carver was established in 2009. It is a mentor program for the young men of carver. The young men are between the ages of 5 and 18. The young men have done—Clean up the neighborhood day, car washes, reward trips etc

Sports: The Carver Center is equipped with two basketball courts and a softball diamond. In addition, we began our flag football program in February of 2007. Under the instruction of our Recreation Leader and various area coaches, games are held every weekend, ending in April. Children from all over the city come out to play.
