Overview

The Crime Scene Unit is comprised of six highly trained evidence technicians to provide skilled crime scene processing on a 24-hour basis. The unit has a stand-by/on-call schedule because the majority of technicians are assigned to the Patrol Division, and perform normal patrol officer operations when not working a crime scene.

The evidence technicians process all types of crime scenes, as well as process the majority of the evidence collected. Items not processed in-house are submitted to various local, state, and federal crime laboratories for processing. The unit has two fully equipped crime scene vehicles.
