Citation Disputes

If you believe that your parking citation was issued in error, you have the right to contest the citation. Parking citations may be contested for a variety of reasons.

Court Hearing

You may request a court hearing for your parking citation within 30 days of issue. To set a hearing contact the Duval County Clerk of Courts directly and in person at the beach branch office:

Instructions for Requesting a Court Hearing:

• You must appear in person at the Beaches Branch Duval County Clerk of Courts.
• You will need your citation and Drivers License
• If you have supporting documentation you wish to use you may bring it the day of your court hearing. All documentation must be in printed format.

Citation Review Request

The city will review your parking citation if the citation was issued in error, incorrectly or if the location of the violation is in need of repairs.

A Citation Review  must be requested within ten (10) days from the date the citation was issued. You may submit your request on line, elect to appear in person, or mail your review request to the Parking Services Office.

Instructions for Citation Review Form:

• A separate Citation Review Request Form must be completed for each citation.
• You must be the registered owner of the vehicle or submit a notarized Letter of Responsibility stating you take accountability for the citation before you can request a citation review.
• Explain in detail why you believe the citation was issued in error.
  If you have supporting documentation you wish to submit you can mail it to Parking Services. We cannot accept email attachments.
• DO NOT pay your fine at this time if you are requesting a citation review.

If all the criteria have been met, your appeal will be assigned to a review officer. During the process late fees will be temporarily suspended. Your review will take time to process. At the end of the review you will be notified of the outcome.
