A bike is stolen every 7 seconds and while thousands of bikes are recovered by the police each year, very few are returned. In Jacksonville Beach, for 2010, 111 bikes were stolen with only 7 returned to the owner.
The bicycle registration program is a theft recovery program. If your bicycle is missing this will aid Officers in identifying your property.
By registering your bicycle with the police department you will have a six year record of ownership that will assist you in identifying your bike.
Bicycle Registration is FREE however it will require you to bring your Florida ID Card and bicycle with you to the police department. We are providing an online fillable registration form for your convenience. You can fill in the fields online, print the form and bring it with you to registration.
Child bikes are registered to the parent.
We recommend you take a photo of yourself standing behind your bicycle and write the following information on the back:
•The serial number
•Other identification marks and after market products
If your bicycle is missing this will aid Officers in identifying your property in a report. The photo also serves to identify you as the owner and makes for a speedy return!
