Find It All in Jacksonville Beach

The Blues, Jazz, Rock’n Roll, the Pops, and the Movies!

Jacksonville Beach continues its tradition as the entertainment center of Northeast Florida. Spring and Summer are festival and concert season in this city by the sea. Fans of the blues, jazz, classical music, and movies are just a few of the many who are drawn to the nearly weekly events in Jacksonville Beach that offer family entertainment.

Beginning in March, Jacksonville Beach residents and visitors have an opportunity to enjoy some of the best national and regional bands, all with the beautiful Atlantic Ocean serving as the backdrop. Festivals also feature a variety of arts, crafts and children's activities.

The first Summer Beach Run was held in 1965 when the Beatles were taking the US by storm. Long hair with long sideburns was the rage, and we had not yet put a man on the moon. The first event consisted of 25 to 30 runners who were taken by truck to the starting line at Hannah Park. There were only men running the race that year. Most were high school cross country runners getting ready for the season. The race in those days was a straight shot down the beach to the Jacksonville Beach Lifeguard Station. The Seawalk Pavilion would not be built for another 40 years. Last year over 1,500 runners and walkers celebrated the 51st running of the event. Join us on August 26th for the oldest running event in Florida. The Tijuana Flats Summer Beach Run event consists of a 5 mile and 1 mile run on the firmly packed sand at Jacksonville Beach. After the conclusion of the run, a huge post-race celebration will be held featuring a live band, free beer, and tacos from Tijuana Flats.

Entry fee will be $40 per division for pre-registration and $60 per division the day of the contest! Entry forms are available now! Up to 150 girls will compete!

Did you know The Sisters of the Sea is a non-profit organization for women surfers in Jacksonville, FL? The group was founded in July of 1997 when 8 women came together for a surf session in Hanna Park. It was a sunny, glassy, waist high day and everyone had a blast. Since then, the group has grown steadily. The Sisters of the Sea is a group of women who love to surf. We encourage and support each other in and out of the water. Many strong friendships have developed as a result of the creation of this organization. The group gathers for a beach clean up once a month and if the waves permit...a surf session afterwards. Land meetings are also held when necessary.

Jax Beach Classic Car Cruise

Third Tuesday of each month

5:00 - 8:00 PM

Whether you want to show off your classic car or you want to admire your neighbor's car, bring your family out and enjoy the Jax Beach Classic Car Cruise.  Thanks to the support of the City of Jacksonville Beach, we are now able to use Sea Walk Pavilion and Latham Plaza (across from the Pavilion, between 1st and and 2nd St on the corner of 2nd Ave N) to showcase pre-registered cars.  To apply for a spot in the plazas, email Jon at info@betterjaxbeach.com.   Classic vehicles not showcased in the plazas are welcome to park in the city parking lot next to Latham Plaza (75 1St St North).  Spaces in that lot are public parking and not reserved, so  we ask that you start parking your classic cars in the NW corner near Jax Beach City Hall as space becomes available to keep everyone together.  Unless you are parking at the Sea Walk Pavilion or Latham plaza, no registration is required.

At 8:00 PM, (7:00 during Winter hours) vehicles in the plazas (and anyone else with a classic car) will file out to cruise 1st St.  The route is 1st north to 6th Ave, left on 6th ave one block to 2nd St, go one block on 2nd St to 5th Ave, take 5th Ave east back to 1st St, then turn right back onto 1st St towards Beach Blvd.  Even if you don't have a classic car, come watch as the cruisers show off their ride!

This event is free and open to the public.

We are working in cooperation with the Jacksonville Beach Police Department and want to remind all participants that all traffic and open container laws will be enforced throughout the cruise.  This event is about encouraging families to come to the JBD and we ask you be respectful of that.

If you want to be kept up to date, sign up for our email list or send an email to info@betterjaxbeach.com.
