Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) is a police officer led series of classroom lessons that teaches children how to resist peer pressure, and live productive drug and violence free lives.
The department currently has three officers who are D.A.R.E. trained. These officers go to local kindergarten through 4th grade classes once per year for "visitations" in order to get to know the kids, and so that the kids can get to know the officers. Beginning with 5th graders, officers teach a 10 lesson program that culminates in a graduation ceremony. When kids reach 7th grade, they receive a 10 lesson review and update on their 5th grade lesson program.
