Hurricane Irma Cleanup

Debris Removal Information for Jacksonville Beach Residents

In order to clean up the debris from Hurricane Irma, the City of Jacksonville Beach has contracted with Ceres Environmental to pick up and remove debris.  We expect crews to start arriving within the next week.

To clean up debris as quickly as possible once our debris contractor begins work, you can help by doing the following:

  • DO NOT put any debris in bags. The contractor cannot remove any debris in trash bags. This may be different from how debris pickup has been done in the past.
  • DO move all debris to the City's right-of-way, as close to the street as safely possible.
  • DO keep the roadway clear of debris.
  • DO NOT mix yard debris (tree limbs, etc.) with construction debris (wood, drywall, etc.).  The contractor will collect yard waste and construction waste separately.
  • DO NOT cut debris into small pieces. Large pieces can be collected faster than small pieces. You should only cut debris as small as necessary to safely move it to the right-of-way. The contractor will be using special equipment to remove the debris.

The City is making every effort to minimize any inconvenience during this cleanup operation and we appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.

Remember:

  • Don't bag it
  • Don't cut it
  • Don't mix it
