The Jacksonville Beach Police Department offers several programs promoting citizen education and involvement.
Citizen Police Academy
The Citizen Police Academy (CPA) is designed to give participants a working knowledge of the Jacksonville Beach Police Department. Course topics are presented in a relaxed, hands-on environment by police officers and civilian employees who specialize in course subject areas. The CPA is offered twice a year and meets for twelve three-hour sessions.

Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association
Graduates of the CPA are eligible to join the Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association (CPAAA) to continue their association with the Jacksonville Beach Police Department. Members continue to receive additional training at the CPAAA monthly meetings and may choose to provide volunteer services in the Department’s activities and events.
If you are a graduate of the CPA program and would like more information on how you can join the Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association, contact the Police Volunteer Coordinator.
Visit the Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association's website.
Citizens on Patrol
Members of the CPAAA can volunteer for a more active patrolling program called Citizens On Patrol (COP).
COP Members receive an initial 65 hours of specialized training on patrolling techniques, Florida laws, and report writing. Following training, they are able to direct traffic, provide parking enforcement services, write basic crime reports, and patrol proactively.
