Candidate Qualifying

The qualifying period is from Noon, Monday, June 10, 2024, through Noon, Friday, June 14, 2024. Qualifying papers will be accepted during the qualifying period at the City Clerk's Office any time during normal office hours. The City Clerk's Office may accept and hold qualifying papers submitted not earlier than 14 days prior to the beginning of the qualifying period to be processed and filed during the qualifying period.

The Jacksonville Beach City Council has 2 Charter amendments on the November 5, 2024 ballot to address various things in the City's Charter. Jacksonville Beach voters are encouraged to read and understand each amendment before they vote. Read the Charter Amendments .

Here is a brief summary of the Charter amendments:

Amendment Number 1: Eliminating all gender references associated with job descriptions or duties in the City Charter.
Amendment Number 2: Eliminating an existing discrepancy in the City Charter to make it clear that if a vacancy occurs in the office of the mayor, the mayor pro-tem shall act as mayor for the unexpired term.
