Dogs in Outdoor Dining Area Permit

If your restaurant has outdoor dining/seating for your customers, do you allow them to have their dogs in that outdoor area?

In accordance with the Florida Statutes, Chapter 509.233 authorizes the City, (pursuant to Chapter 5, Article III, of the City of Jacksonville Beach Code of Ordinances), to issue a permit to public food service establishments that provides an exemption from Section 6-501.115 of the Food and Drug Administration Food Code, in order to allow dogs in the outdoor dining areas of foodservice establishments.

Application

To apply for this exemption, complete the application form, Sections 1, 2, and 3 and submit to the City Clerk's Office with the following documentation:

  • Completed application
  • Copy of your DBPR Restaurant License/Food Service Permit
  • Photo identification
  • An accurate sketch (to scale) of the outdoor area designated to patrons with dogs
  • Payment to the City of Jacksonville Beach (cash or check) - $75
