Municipal Elections
Elections are held every two years on even-numbered years with the offices of Mayor and At-Large Council seats, alternating with the three District Council Seats.
Primary Election
When more than two candidates are running for the same elective office, a Primary Election will be held, only for those municipal offices. Such primary election shall be held on the Tuesday, ten weeks prior to the General Election.
If at the Primary Election, a candidate receives a majority of the votes cast, he or she shall be declared elected to office and his or her name will not be placed on the ballot in the General Election.
In the event that a candidate does not receive a majority of the votes cast, the names of the candidates placing first and second will be placed on the ballot in the general election.
General Election
When two or fewer candidates are running for the same elective office, the election will be held at the General Election. The General Election is held on the first Tuesday, following the first Monday in November of each even numbered year.
The City Clerk coordinates all Municipal Elections with the Duval County Supervisor of Elections and is the official filing officer for candidates seeking elective office in Jacksonville Beach.
